A Parent’s Guide to Surviving the Homework Years

Christine Staple-Ebanks is an author, speaker, parenting and childhood disabilities advocate, and a social entrepreneur. Christine embodies more than 20 years experience in running parenting training, educational conferences, disability workshops, and advocacy campaigns. Her focus is on building a support infrastructure in Jamaica, which caters to the holistic development and inclusion of ALL children, with a strong focus on children with disabilities (including mental health conditions) and special learning needs. Christine is the Founder of the Nathan Ebanks Foundation in Jamaica. She is a former member of the National Parenting Support Commission formation working group, and has served on various boards including the National Disability Advisory Board (2010-2013). Since 2015, Christine co-chairs the National Child and Adolescent Mental Health special committee. Her advocacy extends beyond the shores of Jamaica, where she co-founded Nathan Ebanks Children Advocacy Group Inc., a 501C3 organization with registered offices in New York, USA. Christine is the mother of four children, including 13 year old Nathan who lives with cerebral palsy. Over the last decade, Christine has become one of the leading voices in the disability inclusion movement in Jamaica. Always an impassioned communicator, she published her first book: “Raising Nathan: Every Life Has A Story” in 2015, giving voice, facilitation and power to families of children with disabilities in Jamaica. Her latest work: “A Parent’s Guide to Surviving the Homework Years: Foundations for helping your child to develop good study skills” is already described as a ‘must have’ manual for anyone raising, educating or caring for young children. Christine is married for over 20 years to her best friend Robert, and with their four children they live in Kingston, Jamaica.
